This page explains what information qasimhussain.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: the site only stores what you choose to send, it runs no ads and no third-party tracking, and you can ask for your data to be deleted at any time.
Information we collect
We only collect information you give us:
- Your account: your name, email address and a securely hashed password (never the password itself) when you create a free account, plus which books you download.
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message, plus the IP address the message came from (to stop spam).
- Newsletter: your name and email address when you subscribe.
- Server logs: like every website, the hosting provider briefly processes technical data such as your IP address, browser and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Videos, articles and podcast episodes can all be used without an account. Downloading a book needs a free account.
How we use it
- To run your account and let you download the books.
- To reply to your message or inquiry.
- To send the newsletter you subscribed to, and nothing else.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Cookies and local storage
The public site sets no tracking cookies. Your browser's local storage remembers two conveniences on your own device: your light / dark theme choice and which course lessons you marked as done. Neither ever leaves your device.
When you sign in, one strictly necessary session cookie keeps you signed in. It is removed when you sign out.
YouTube videos
Course lessons and podcast episodes are hosted on YouTube. To protect your privacy, a video only loads from YouTube (through its privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain) after you click play. From that moment YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
Where your data is stored
The site runs on Cloudflare (hosting, database and file storage). Emails are delivered through our own mail server. Data may be processed in countries other than your own, with the safeguards these providers offer.
How long we keep it
Your account is kept until you ask us to delete it. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to deal with your inquiry and any follow-up. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your rights
You can change your details at any time on your account page, and ask at any time to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (including your whole account), and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter whenever you like. Email info@qasimhussain.com and we will act on your request promptly.
Security
The whole site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes and sign-in is rate-limited. Access to stored data is limited to the site owner, behind a password-protected admin area. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.

Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
